First of all, we just want to say ‘thank you’ for booking or thinking about booking a break with us here at Baxby Manor.  It has been a ‘testing’ year for everyone thus far hasn’t it?!  We know you’re desperate for a change of scene and to be back out in the fresh air and we hope to be able to offer both of those things, obviously subject to government updates etc.

As many of you know Camping and Glamping is a relatively safe option right now and with Rufus’s Roost being a self-contained ‘unit’ the risks here are reduced slightly BUT they do still exist, so we have, as I am sure you will appreciate, had to make some significant changes.  Without these changes we wouldn’t be able to welcome you at all.  We do all still need to stay safe and be aware of the risks.

We have followed government guidlines & thought long and hard about the best way to do this for everyone coming to Rufus’s Roost at Baxby Manor this year.  The safety of our guests is paramount, but we also need to make sure we and our staff are not put at risk.

Please make sure you read and understand the following changes that have been implemented as they will affect your stay at Rufus’s Roost.

  • Check in time is from 4pm.  Please do not arrive before this time as we need the extra time to carry out thorough cleaning of the treehouse.

  • For the time being key collection will be from The Hideaway or from Baxby Manor house (as explained on your booking confirmation email/Canopy and Stars website). Social distancing will be in place, but we ask that only one person comes to pick up the key whilst everyone else stays in the vehicle(s).

  • There will be a hand sanitising station at the entrance to Rufus’s Roost PLEASE make sure EVERYONE uses this every time they enter the property, and that everyone also washes their hands regulary with soap.  Sanitising soap is provided.

  • Please remove shoes at the door and leave outside if the weather permits

  • Unfortunately, we have had to remove all bedspreads and throws, literature, board games, visitor comments book and all other items that are classed as ‘high-touch’ items. Please make sure you bring your own items and if you wish, leave a review on our website (www.rufussroost.co.uk)  There is Wi-Fi and an Amazon Alexa in the treehouse which has some information on the area; although please be aware some/all of these venues may still be closed. The takeaways in Easingwold are currently open as is the Tomahawk Steakhouse here in the village of Husthwaite.  The Fauconberg Arms in Coxwold will also be open and offers takeaways and a delivery service!

  • Groceries; to avoid unnecessary journeys please bring what you can from home and/or consider using Click and Collect, or a delivery service. Most of the main supermarkets will deliver to Baxby Manor and there are quite a few small local businesses that will deliver items such as fruit and veg, butchery items, bread etc.  https://farmgatefarmshop.com  www.fauconbergarms.com.  Please consider our local community.

  • In line with government advise; the Hot-tub can now be used but please be aware that you do so at your own risk.  We will be following cleaning and sanitisation guidelines on this.  The hot-tub is equipped with a UV filtration system.

  • Green Laundry bags will be provided for used linen and towels.  On your departure day; PLACE ALL USED LINEN AND TOWLES IN THESE BAGS before you depart, (please place the bathroom (light and dark grey) towels in one bag and the bed linen along with the white bath robes in another).  This is extremely important; by not doing so you will be putting our staff at great risk and *Your security deposit may be retained* Or we will ask you to return to do this.

  • Please make sure ALL crockery is cleaned and put away before you leave. Please use the dishwasher (on the ‘Auto’ cycle for all dishwasher-safe items and make sure it is turned on before leaving.

  • Cleaning products including sanitiser will be left under the sink; please use them to frequently wipe down all high-touch areas and minimise the risk of infection to other party members, our staff and future guests.

Obviously, this is unchartered territory for all of us so we are implementing measures that we feel are most suitable for our business set-up.  We always strive to create an environment that is as safe as possible. If government guidelines on cleaning change, then we will evolve our processes accordingly.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you to Rufus’s Roost@Baxby Manor.
